Part of making senior pictures personal and memorable is using a location that is meaningful in some way. When we were planning Jacob’s session, the ideas we discussed were rustic, landscapes, textures, and a piano. Luckily, his uncle’s property had all that and more for his farm senior pictures!
It’s not always possible for every session but when it happens, it’s a beautiful thing. Having a special location you’re somehow connected to adds extra meaning to your photos. Yes, you’ll pass out wallet prints to your friends and hang some beautiful photo art on the walls. Yes, your mom will probably look at them when she misses you while you’re away at college. But years and years down the line, those photos will increase in meaning. Not only do they capture YOU in your senior year and special time of life, but they also connect you to that special location and commemorate that place as part of your family history.
Seniors, you probably won’t fully understand that ’til you’re older. (I know, how many times have you heard that before…) In the age of Facebook and Instagram, you probably don’t make a habit of looking back at posts from long ago. And there probably aren’t many posts yet. Go through some older family albums, though (the real, turn-the-pages, printed kind), and you might start to see what I mean.
This great location gave us so many options for farm senior pictures, and Jacob rocked all of them! It was so much fun working with Jacob and his family.
